Summer Vineyard Wedding || Jamie + RJ

OLD HOMEPLACE VINEYARD

Winston-Salem, NC

Jamie and RJ are a very athletic couple who’s love for each other is so beautifully selfless. Their day began with getting ready in the bridal suite and groom suite. There Jamie’s bridesmaid Kaitlin came in clutch with the blue nail polish to finish painting the bride’s toenails. I love catching all the details and candid moments. These are the things you end up telling your children about, and I can only imagine how amazing it would be if my parents’ photographer had caught all the candid moments too! After talking with Jamie over the phone and hearing their preference to not have a first look, I suggested a first look with her dad, and for her and RJ to write letters to each other, hold hands, and say a prayer if they chose. These little things always help calm any nerves ahead of time, but preserve the true “first look”. A combination of documentary with poses and prompts helps fully tell the story of Jamie and RJ’s wedding day. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!

If you want to hear the story about why I photographed their sweet wedding when I was very pregnant, keep reading…

I first met with Jamie over the phone when I was 8 months pregnant! After their engagement and bridal sessions with another photographer, they weren’t completely pleased with the full galleries they’d received. (This is partially why I so recommend engagement sessions and include them in my wedding collections!) Jamie’s mom saw my photography style and recommended me to her. On our phone call, we immediately jumped into all the details that I love helping my brides with, like planning the timeline, first looks, and so many other things only years of wedding experience could bring me to recommend. As much as I loved our wedding photographer, there are some things I wish he would have advised us on, and I’m so happy that I get to mention these ideas to my clients. On their wedding day, I would be nearly 39 weeks pregnant with Matthias who was due September 10th. I turned down every inquiry for August - November because I was unsure of when our baby would come, and recovering from our first baby took a long time. Knowing this, they still wanted me as their photographer, and I had every imaginable backup plan in place with a second shooter who was prepared to become primary as an associate (she takes the photos, I edit them) at a moment’s notice, and a third shooter who would become the second shooter should I go into labor before our due date. I was able to photograph their wedding, with support from the sweetest bridesmaids and family members who made sure I always had water! Photographing this wedding would have been much harder without my second and third shooters, so a huge thank you to Erin Maynard and Winston Rheinbolt! Three days after Jamie and RJ’s wedding, I went into labor and delivered their sneak peeks from the mother/baby room that week. I felt well enough the day after I had Matthias that I took pictures of Zachary meeting his baby brother, and did a mini fresh 48 session with them.
